About: It’s hard to believe this adorable puppy we all know and love has just turned 30 (even more impressive when you calculate that age in dog years – 210)!

The latest instalment, aptly entitled Spot’s Birthday Balloon, is a lovely big board book, a classic Spot adventure from cover to cover.

Spot has a surprise birthday balloon for his Grandma, but is worried when he loses it on the way to her house. Luckily, a friendly bird is around to help out and make Grandma’s day a special one.

This is a simple, yet charming story, as we have come to expect from Spot. But don’t be fooled by the simplicity; this book has an immediate appeal to young children.

The bright colours, uncomplicated illustrations and loveable animal characters are all thrilling to babies and kids. Even the youngest children can be involved in the story with the hands-on flaps that children can easily open themselves to unveil surprises.

I am yet to meet a child who doesn’t like Spot. These books are always a hit and Spot’s Birthday Balloon is no exception.
