Andrew Daddo: Fun Facts

Did you know...?

Andrew Daddo shares with us some fun facts about his books and his life!

Monster was written about a cute fluffy terrier, for some reason I didn’t bother telling Bruce Whatley, the illustrator, that. When I saw how he interpreted the book I was glad he didn’t know.

I Do It was written backstage at a corporate gig whilst Marcia Hines was performing on stage. I’d had the idea for a while, but that was the night it all came together.

Skoz the Dog was a real dog, of ours. The Skoz books were based on our last Staffy, Flog. The name of the books was gong to be Flog the Dog, but someone thought it sounded a bit like something else.

My best golfing handicap ever was seven. I often commentate what I’m doing in my head. As if I’m watching it on TV. So, if I am kicking the footy with the kids, I’ll actually be pretending I’m on the MCG playing for the Soon To Be Mighty Demons.
