Review: I Love My Mummy

Giles Andreae is the master of simple yet emotive storybooks, and this sweet picture book is no exception. In I Love My Mummy, we meet a little boy who takes us through the absolutely best bits about having a mum.

Like the fact that she’s great to cuddle and soft to touch. That she puts on our favourite songs in the car. That she holds our hand. That she hands over delicious things to eat. That she makes us laugh. That she dances around in her underwear!

The simple yet charming text is rhythmic, and Emma Dodd's large and colourful illustrations are totally engaging for wee ones.

But what I like most about this book is the relatability. Not only can I nod in appreciation at all the things my mum used to do with me, there also moments of recognition at all the things I did with my own kids (and some I still do).
