Review: I Love Kissing You

Although not a children's book per se, there is absolutely no reason why the very young can't enjoy this beautiful tribute to love.

Davide Cali has unleashed a torrent of adoration in this absolutely charming book - so much so, its text is a virtual stream of consciousness, espousing the reasons why, how and wherefore, kissing his girl is a delicious thing.

Almost a biography, I Love Kissing You follows the daily kissable moments as well as the memories of those wonderful pecks and smooches, both at home and abroad. It follows the evolution of those first, heart-fluttering connections, right through to the old 'watch tv and fall asleep in 20 minutes' moments . . . but of course, that doesn't mean stealing a peck on a train or in the kitchen has gone out of style.

The language Cali uses in this book is gathered up and splashed across the pages visually by the talented Serge Bloch, whose emotive images are as raw and pleasing as the frankness of Cali's voice. Using line drawings, silhouettes, photography and sheer grooviness, each page is a smile-worthy surprise, making for yet another superlative pas de deux between this literary luxe duo.

I Love Kissing You is yet another book that has made it into the Table Art Display category in my house. Stuffing it in a book shelf would be like snuffing the sweetest, rosy-cheeked kiss. Mwah.
