Review: My Book of Jokes

There's nothing much cuter than the moment a young child realises the power of a good joke - or more importantly, finally understands how the traditional joke works. It's like something clicks deep within their funny bone - and then it's all over. You can never escape the joke-telling onslaught.

Many a tome has been crammed with both good and bad jokes for kids, but this hardcover rendition appears to be the first of its ilk: looks like a picture book, reads like a joke book, and is for the very young.

Bronwen Davies' truly gorgeous, bright and thoroughly entertaining illustrations provide a quality backdrop to some good oldies but goodies -

What time is it when an elephant sits on your fence?
Time to get a new fence.

Why did the chicken cross the road?
To get to the other side.

Why did the crocodile cross the road?
It was following the chicken.

- making a great stocking stuffer at Christmas time, or birthday gift for the kid who has everything. Cute.
