Review: Yellow Submarine

"We all live in a yellow submarine
Yellow submarine,
Yellow submarine
We all live in a yellow submarine
Yellow submarine,
Yellow submarine"

I need to start this review by holding up my right hand and saying "My name is Kelly and I am a Beatlemaniac." So while I am reviewing this book, some part of my brain is going AHH! IT'S THE BEATLES!

Just so you know.
Jolly good.

Far away, 80,000 leagues below the sea, lies a colourful land of song and laughter ... Pepperland. A musical wonder world where Sergeant Pepper's band plays on forever. Where you never felt lonely because Sergeant Pepper's Band was always playing your song. Until, that is, the music hating Blue Meanies overrun Pepperland leaving it a colourless, sad and silent wasteland.

But out of darkness shines a light ... Captain Fred manages to escape the Meanies in a Yellow Submarine and sets sail for Liverpool. Who should he run into? None other than Mr Richard Starkey himself. Lovely Ringo takes pity on him and *ahem* with a little help from his friends ... John, Paul and George, they set out on a magical adventure to bring music and love back to Pepperland.

Vivid and psychedelic colours alongside with a witty story. It is hard not to love this book. It is a story that has been resonating with children and adults alike for over forty years. I adore this book. Even after multiple readings, I never tire of it and it never fails to bring a smile to my face.

Not to spoil the ending but I wonder if you can guess what saves the day? What do the Blue Meanies need. (All you need is ____).

By the way in case you were wondering, my favourite Beatle is John. Who is yours?
