Review: Too Cold for a Tutu

Oh, Barry and Stella - such cuteness should be illegal. Let's just say it's a good thing these beautiful dolls are being made available to WIN in a comp on the Allen and Unwin website because I don't think I can bear another moment without them in my life!

Mini Goss has created two truly adorable knitted dogs in this sweet as apple pie book about two young pups out for a play in the frosty air.

Barry has his cold-weather gear all sorted. He's snug from head to toe. But Stella wants to wear her tutu. Barry tells Stella it's a little cold for a tutu but what does Stella say?

It's never too cold for a tutu!

Indeed. She has her hat and boots on after all, but once outside in the blustery wind, Stella does start to feel a wee bit chilly. Wangling her way into Barry's nanna-knitted, striped cardie, Stella not only feels a little more snug, she inadvertently creates the shape of a wooly elephant with her friend!

And so the two play together, enjoying imaginative elephanty role play until they're simply tuckered out and need some afternoon tea.

Loving the bright, quirky photography and backgrounds used in this book, as well as the kooky typography and labeling. This story seriously uplifts any reader and firmly implants them in childhood - and does it with gusto and panache.

Real life toys and leaves and grass dotted over pages will enchant children, as will this charming character duo.

Oh - and Mini's a good knitter!
