Review: Huckle Cat’s Colors

Next to Gold bug, Huckle cat is my son’s favourite book character from Richard Scarry’s Busy Town series.

In this book, Huckle travels from scene to scene with his cart, collecting different pots of paint and meeting different characters.

Those familiar with the Busy Town series will recognise its famous residents - from Mr Fumble with his green pickle car to Mr Chug and his black train.

There is a lot going on in each scene, which makes it great for explaining and discussing things with your child.

This book is a fun, short introduction to colours for toddlers. After reading the story one time my two year old proclaimed while at the park “Mummy, the sky is blue.”

We have had it in our night time story repertoire for a while now and I think even as my son reaches three, Huckle Cat and his Colours will be on our reading list for a little longer.
