Shout Out: Stories for . . . kids!
Love a good short story book, me - and often this is the perfect type of book for kids who struggle to read well, or whose attention span doesn't yet stretch to entire, chaptered tales.
Random House have released a set of beautifully-produced junior fiction books, edited by Linsay Knight, that are sure to attract some hefty bedtime reading. Aimed at both boys and girls, stories for each age group - 5, 6, 7 and 8 - are written by an impressive line-up of authors like Sophie Masson, Andy Griffiths, Paul Jennings, Ursula Dubosarsky, Jacqueline Harvey, Morris Gleitzman, and more.
As the target age for each book progresses, subject matter, story length and even typeface size change to suit. Ink illustrations by the superlative Tom Jellett are similarly dispersed through each book.
At just $14.95 each, this is a fabulous set of books for kids of all likes and preferences.
The Stories for . . . series is published by Random House.
