Review: Hide and Seek

Everyone loves a pop-up book, and this stunning creation by David A Carter is really up there in terms of both incredible paper engineering - and attraction to children.

Published by the Tate Gallery London, this amazing book with its silvery cover is as astonishing, bright and super fabulous hunt for all manner of objects, from five black spots to a smile and a T that is white.

Using rhyming text, Carter offers kids the challenge of exploring his pages in a totally 3D fashion, with curling floral displays, a super dooper spiral and more linear, graphic contruction. With lots to touch and feel, spinning parts, lift-the-flaps and the most amazing, almost 'shredded' objects to finish the book, this is toddler heaven.

One small warning: don't leave little ones unsupervised! The urge to grab and pull and tear will be almost beyond their control (it was for me!).

Joyful.
