Love2Read is partnering with the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) to coordinate National Simultaneous Storytime, now in its 13th year. Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country.
National Simultaneous Storytime 2013 will be held on Wednesday, 22nd May at 11am AEDT. At this time, groups all around the country will sit down to read Nick Bland’s The Wrong Book, a humorously illustrated picture book where characters ‘escape’ and find their way into, you guessed it, the wrong book. (Read our KBR review of The Wrong Book here).
This enjoyable and interactive event aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children's book that explores age appropriate themes and addresses key learning areas of the National Curriculum for Grades 1 to 6.
You can register your interest in taking part in National Simultaneous Storytime and order merchandise from the ALIA Website. Why not contact your local library or your children’s school to see if they are organising an event on the day?
