Review: Bug Bingo

I know we review books here at KBR, but occasionally a fabulous game comes along that's a must-see--and Bug Bingo is one of them.

Who doesn't love Bingo? Who doesn't love bugs? Combined in this luscious board game, this is learning-personified.

The game includes a fold-out board containing a series of insects from bees to butterflies, bugs and roaches. Players choose a bingo card and a caller plucks squares from a fabric bag, calling out each insect.

The first to cover their card with green dots calls out BINGO!

This is a fabulous way for kids to both enjoy and learn about insects--and forms a great reading challenge, as some of these names are seriously hard to pronounce!

The Rule Book includes a fascinating guide to each insect so kids can learn more about them, where they come from, and their variant curiosities. I'm all for the ladybird beetle and honey bee, but I'll be giving the Megaphragma and the Stag Beetle a wide berth!

Illustrations by Christine Berrie are truly stunning, and the design and layout of this game set is typical of Laurence King's quality productions.

Great fun and highly educational.
