12 Curly Questions with author Libby Gleeson

1. Can you tell us something hardly anyone knows about you?
I speak bad Italian.

2. Do you have a nickname and if so, what is it?
I never had one. 

3. What is your greatest fear?
Losing one of my children.

4. Can you describe your writing style for us in ten words?
Spare, clean and free of too many adjectives and adverbs.

5. Can you give us five positive words that describe you as a writer?
Unsentimental, considered, empathetic, persevering, optimistic.

6. What book character would you be, and why?
Elnora in A Girl of the Limberlost by Gene Stratton Porter

7. If you could time travel, what year would you go to and why?
2050 to see how the world had survived climate change and how my adult children and grandchildren were faring.

8. What would your ten-year-old self say to you now?
Keep reading – the best investment in your future career!

9. Who is your greatest influence? 
Carol Burns – a writing teacher I had in London.

10. What or who made you start writing?
A love of reading.

11. What is your favourite word and why?
Love – it covers everything from admiration to deep passion.

12. If you could only read one book for the rest of your life what would it be? 
A History of Reading by Alberto Mangual.
