Monster Chef is no exception.
In it, we meet Marcel the monster, who, like all good monsters should, goes to work nightly as a Child Frightener. The only problem is, he's not very good at his job. Kids love him. There is simply no frightening to be had.
Feeling a consistent failure, Marcel takes comfort in whipping up horrendous, stomach-turning meals in his kitchen--creations of truly abominable ingredients, from smelly socks to cockroaches and sludge. What Marcel could never imagine is that his gourmet 'delights' might just become the scare-a-child tool he's been looking for.
Monster Chef is a visual delight. It's packed with delectably emotive faces and reactions that will have children entranced. The humour is over-the-top funny and will have readers of all ages laughing out loud. And the brilliant ending (I'm fussy about endings) will also elicit giggles.
Another Bland winner.
