Review: Amelie and Nanette: Snowflakes and Fairy Wishes

Amelie and Nanette are best friends and have been forever! With only days to go until Christmas, they're busy writing cards, wrapping presents, gathering decorations for the tree, and making their fairy costumes for the school Christmas party.

In the midst of all this, they also manage to fit in some time to play outside in the snow, building snowmen and throwing snowballs — except, that Nanette forgets to wear her warm coat and hat. It's not long before she starts to sneeze. Whoops! She's caught a cold.

The day of the school party arrives and, sadly, there's no Nanette. She's sick at home in bed feeling very sorry for herself. And Amelie is feeling pretty sad at school too, because a party's just not the same without your best friend. Fortunately, Amelie comes up with a plan to make both of them happy again …

As well as being an author and illustrator, Sophie Tilley designs a range of children's soft toys and character dolls. Her deft touch is evident in the charming illustrations that accompany Amelie and Nanette's story. This would make a beautiful gift for any little girl; it's a delightful celebration of friendship and all that's best about Christmas.
