12 Curly Questions with Hannah Chandler

1. Tell us something hardly anyone knows about you.
I participated in my first public speaking competition at the age of 4. I was only learning to read properly at the time which meant my speech had to be written using pictures rather than words.

2. What is your nickname?
Punky. It was given to me by my Dad when I was a little girl.

3. What is your greatest fear?
Birds.I don’t like it when they fly close to me, they creep me out!

4. Describe your writing style in ten words.
Fun,but with an educational message. (Sorry, that’s only 6 words!)

5. Tell us five positive words that describe you as a writer.
Excited. Evolving. Imaginative. Fun. Grateful (extremely grateful that Exilse Publishing has given me this opportunity at such a young age).

6. What book character would you be, and why?
Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series. She is smart and a very strong female character that holds her own against the boys! I also think the ability to do a few magic spells could come in handy from time to time!

7. If you could time travel, what year would you go to and why?
2062 to see if the Jetsons are right and we are all driving flying cars.

8. What would your ten-year-old self say to you now?
As it was only 2 and ½ years ago I would probably tell myself to take every awesome opportunity and run with it. Don’t listen to the negative people, always do what is right for you!

9. Who is your greatest influence?
I have a number of influences. My Mum and Dad are probably my greatest influence, as they always there for me and always encourage me to do my best.

As for my writing, my biggest influences would have to be John Green, J.K Rowling, Jackie French and Ally Carter.

10. What/who made you start writing?
My Mum and Dad would read to me every night so that’s where my love of books started. I started writing at the age of 3. I would sit with my Mum and tell her my stories and she would write it down for me and we would turn them into little books. I would draw the pictures to go with my story. My Mum has kept them all in a shoebox.

11. What is your favourite word and why?
Bubbles, because it’s a fun word and it doesn’t matter how hard you try, you can’t say it in an angry tone!

12. If you could only read one book for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Fault In Our Stars by John Green because it’s a book that I would enjoy it at any age.
