Review: Alfie in the Garden

Alfie is a little rabbit with a big imagination. As he helps his mother in the garden, he imagines that he is a lion, an elephant, a bird and the wind, swish-swashing through the long grass.

A lovely story for toddlers that celebrates the wonder of imaginative play outdoors, Alfie in the Garden is a sweet story with gorgeous illustrations by author/illustrator Debi Gliori.

While the story is all about movement and games, it winds down towards the end with Alfie taking a nap on his mother’s lap, so it is well suited to being read as a bedtime story or as part of a quiet time activity after a busy morning.

Debi Gliori is the author and illustrator of numerous books for children including the picture book Dragon Loves Penguin (KBR review). Another Alfie story, Alfie in the Bath, will be published by Bloomsbury in April 2015.
