There’s nothing ordinary about the everyday when you are living it. That’s what hooked me into You’re the Kind of Girl I Write Songs About. Mandy’s boredom with the mundane and Tim’s dreams of transcending it all took me on a rollercoaster with them as they searched for something more and found it in each other.
Amidst the music, Tim and Mandy experience their own versions of first attraction buzz, fear of rejection, misunderstandings and crossroads in their relationship. How far would you go to keep a relationship going? When is enough, enough? Are there extenuating circumstances for bad behaviour? And what about sex?
It’s all in You’re the Kind of Girl I Write Songs About. There’s nothing ordinary about this story of two everyday teenagers. Definitely one of my favourite reads this year.
