12 Curly Questions with Tull Suwannakit

1. Tell us something hardly anyone knows about you.
I can draw using both hands simultaneously

2. What is your nickname?
My real name is Tul (spot the difference).   In college, friends just called me T.  I don’t think it can get any shorter than that, unless someone wants to call me with just half a syllable.

3. What is your greatest fear?
Balloons.  You just never know when they are going to pop.

4. Describe your writing style in ten words.
Ideas emerge from the everyday, and drawings transform into words

5. Tell us five positive words that describe you as a writer.
Optimistic, imaginative, resourceful, explorative, determined

6. What book character would you be, and why?
Bilbo Baggins.  You get to embark on the most epic quest (ever) across Middle Earth and get to write about it too.  That’s pretty amazing I reckon.

7. If you could time travel, what year would you go to and why?
I don’t know, maybe 1977, so that I watch the original Star Wars in theaters as it intended to be without all the irrelevant CGI add-ons.

8. What would your ten-year-old self say to you now?
You were bad at Math, you are bad at Math still

9. Who is your greatest influence?
Emily Gravette.  Simple, creative with so little words to tell a story.

10. What/who made you start writing?
Fabriano Artist’s Journal that I have been keeping for 12 years.  (There are still a few more pages to be filled).  All my notes, sketches go in there like a one-stop brainstorming archive.

11.What is your favourite word and why?
“Journey”.  It keeps you moving.  It makes everyday fun and exciting.  It opens up to many wondrous things.

12. If you could only read one book for the rest of your life, what would it be?
The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien. It just gets better and better every time you read.
