#LoveOzYA August Update with Kate McCaffrey

To support the #LoveOzYA initiative, each month Kids' Book Review will ask an Australian YA author to share their favourite Australian young adult titles - what they are reading, what they've read and what books are on their TBR pile. We'll also include a list of Australian author YA new releases for the month. Our guest author for August is Kate McCaffrey, whose books include Crashing Down, Destroying Avalon, and the newly released Saving Jazz

What are you currently reading?
All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr

What are your recent OzYA favourites?
Creepy and Maude by Dianne Touchell

What 5 OzYA titles are currently in your TBR pile?
Carousel by Brendan Ritchie and Laurinda by Alice Pung … I’m sorry I’ve only got two at the moment … full-time English teacher #occupationalhazard

What advice would you give to aspiring YA authors?
99% determination, 1% inspiration. Never give up, that’s the difference between being a published author and an unpublished one.

Can you tell us a little bit about your current writing project?
I am “working” on several, a variety of different genres and audiences. The one I’m really excited about is of a female teenage psychopath and the path of destruction she leaves in her wake. There is something very interesting about the psychopathic mind…
