12 Curly Questions with blogger Justin Kam

 1. Tell us something hardly anyone knows about you.
I love transcribing songs on my kids' cat piano. Let It Go in cat meows will give you chills.

2. What is your nickname?
Lil Guy. Most of my friends are really tall.

3. What is your greatest fear?
Pigeons. No further explanation necessary here.

4. Describe the inspiration behind 1000 Book Dad in 50 words or less.
Reading and I weren’t the best of friends growing up. So when my aunt mentioned she did the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten project with my cousins, I thought it would be a fun challenge to tackle with my kids to steer them in the right direction.

5. Tell us five positive words that describe what you hope to achieve with it.
Bonding, memories, dedication, appreciation, foundation

6. What kids’ book character would you be, and why?
The Little Blue Engine from the book The Little Engine That Could. With an attitude like that I could accomplish anything ... or at least I think I could.

7. If you could time travel, what year would you go to and why?
2049, to see what my kids are like at my age.

8. What would your 10-year-old self say to you now?
It's 2016 and there are no hoverboards or flying DeLoreans?

9. Who do you admire the most?
Anyone who’s brave enough to carve their own path and do something different.

10. What/who made you fall in love with books and literacy?
I love how books are like wrapped presents. As you unwrap and turn pages, the author’s story and message is uncovered to surprise or educate you.

11. What is your favourite word and why?
Probably - because you always need an out.

12. If you could only read one book for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Wherever You Are: My Love Will Find You, by Nancy Tillman. I love the illustrations of the kid playing with the animals, as well as the sappy narrative. I’d be happy to read that book to my kids forever.
