Review: The Recorded Poems of Och Aye the G'nu

It’s a joy when a new and unique book comes across my desk, and The Recorded Poems of Och Aye the G’nu was just that; a delight to read and listen to.

With a bonus CD, The Recorded Poems of Och Aye the G’nu is a collection of rhythmically rhyming, zany and entertaining short stories written by Jimmy Barnes and collaborated with bestselling children’s group - The Wiggles.

On the accompanied CD, Barnes' voice is clear and distinctive, perfect for storytelling, matched with simple musical intervals to enhance the story. The book itself is complemented by Kat Chadwick’s gorgeous lined illustrations, and with its bold Scottish tartan cover, you will find it hard not to read along.

The added CD makes this publication perfect for any age; from littlies listening to the short stories; to the beginner reader following the words in the book; and the confident reader, reading each chapter independently.

And you may ask, what is a G’nu? Well, you’ll simply have to read the book to find out. Perfect for all ages, The Recorded Poems of Och Aye the G’nu is bound to become a favourite on any child’s bookshelf.
