Review: Billie's Outer Space Adventure

Billie B Brown can do no wrong in our household and each new installment in her Super Dooper Adventures series is eagerly anticipated.

Sally Rippin has brought her plucky and endearing character to a younger audience in this series of kindergarten escapades that are wildly imaginative and fun.

Here, Billie is full of beans in her super-fast rocket T-shirt and she can't wait to join the crew of the spaceship set up in the kinder playroom. Before long Billie and her sidekick Jack have blasted off into space and find themselves on the planet Pom-Pom.

But when a huge monster from the planet Boo-Boo sneaks up on them and starts to cry, Billie needs to muster one of her signature super-dooper ideas to help save the day, and arrive safely back in the playroom in time for fruit snack.

Sally Rippin's colourful language is perfect for reading out loud and her simple scenarios are beautifully executed with lashings of imagination, quirk and character.

Presented in a super-sweet small format, with vibrant illustrations that exude a subtle retro appeal, this latest gem is sure to satisfy the preschool set, for now.
