Review: Nothing Can Frighten A Bear
One night a loud roar frightens awake Baby Bear, who lives with his Mum and Dad, sister Grace and brother Ben.
What could it be, roaring in the night? A monster, or something else?
'Nothing can frighten a bear', says Daddy Bear, so all the bears all go hunting for the source of the roaring.
They encounter a deer, frog, and crow, and each time they meet a new creature, Daddy Bear's refrain of 'nothing can frighten a bear' reminds Baby Bear that he shouldn't be scared.
But sometimes even Daddy Bear can be scared, like when they discover shadows that look like a monster. But of course shadows are usually made from something, or someone, much friendler.
Middle-of-the-night exploration can be tiring, so when the bears head home to bed, they quickly fall asleep again, until a loud, growling noise wakes them. This time the other bears know just who is making the noise - and you'll have to read the book yourself to find out what it is!
Nothing Can Frighten A Bear is a delightful story with rhyming text, repeated phrases and lots of opportunity for interactive storytelling.
With its friendly bears and a familiar situation, it should be a great antidote for children afraid of sleeping.
