Review: Shapes of Australia

A gorgeous, colourful book, full of patterns and shapes inspired by Australia's landscape, both natural and man-made.

From the first page you are transported into a dreamlike wonderland of colour, shape and pattern. Bronwyn Bancroft has used bold colour, intricate pattern and geometric shapes to represent aspects of Australia including, forests, oceans, cities and farms in a beautiful expression of creativity.

The text is minimal with a single, poetic sentence to describe the glorious artwork on each double page spread.

This book has broad appeal. The youngest of babes to their great grandparents, teachers, artists and anyone with an eye and an ear keen to be immersed in melodic beauty, will be inspired by this book.

My first thought on opening the fabulous pages was how great this book will be to use in the classroom! Obviously it would make great inspiration for art lessons, but it also could be used for poetry writing, geometry and cultural appreciation.

I absolutely love this book! It is definitely one to display face-out on a bookshelf.  Each page is worthy of framing--just devine!

Another treasure to add to my teaching resources. Highly Recommended!
