Do you know a dinosaur enthusiast? If you do, you need to get this book.
Dinosaur A to Z is a fantastic non-fiction and super kid-friendly book filled with amazing facts about 100 dinosaurs from around the world.
Author Dustin Growick has made the book so accessible for kids. There’s a ‘how this book works’ page to help kids explore the information, colour codes and picture keys, a ‘dino file’ with quick facts, an index and a glossary.
There are facts galore about dinosaur features, eating habits, habitats and behaviour, but there are three awesome and unique bits of information that I think make this book stand out.
1. Dinosaur A to Z includes dinosaurs that aren’t dinosaurs at all — the ones most of us thought were dinosaurs (like pterodactyls) but actually aren't. Whenever one of these creatures appears, the book tells you with a big ‘not a dinosaur’ stamp, and, importantly, an explanation of why the creature isn’t a dinosaur is always included.
2. All the dinosaurs are illustrated so they are accurately in proportion to each other. This means kids will get a real feel for their size. For the really big dinosaurs, sometimes you only see their legs, and if a dinosaur is really long, it will stretch across several pages. It looks very cool!
3. Learning a dinosaur’s size compared to other dinosaurs is awesome, but Dinosaur A to Z goes one step further and includes animals you’ll be familiar with as a comparison. Silhouettes of children, wolves, lions and more are included to help kids see just how amazingly big some of these beasts were.
And if all that wasn’t enough, Dinosaur A to Z also comes with an amazing dinosaur poster that any dinosaur fan would absolutely adore.
This is a fabulous book to add to your collection, and it’s a must have for any dinosaur lover. It would make a fabulous gift for Christmas or an awesome surprise, just because.
If you’re looking for a dinosaur book, I highly recommend Dinosaur A to Z.
