Review: Fart Monster and Me: The Crash Landing

This easy to read chapter book written by author Tim Miller is hilarious from the first page with several laugh out loud moments. It will certainly appeal to all ages, but boys especially will love the Fart Monster.

The Dugan family are in the midst of packing and moving house to Stone Beach, when their son Ben makes an unexpected new friend in the backyard. A strange object falls from the clouds and crash lands behind his Dad’s shed; Ben discovers a butt shaped crater and a big green smelly monster.

After helping the monster climb out of the crater, the green monster explains he was simply at home on Planet Let ‘er Rip when he farted and launched into space, ultimately landing in Ben’s backyard.

The two form a partnership and develop a plan in an attempt for the Fart Monster to get back home. But not before leaving yellow fart clouds covering the backyard. The Fart Monster is invisible to Ben’s parents as they are not friends, so Ben is left to explain his increased farting activity to his mortified parents.

Matt Stanton’s illustrations only adds to the laughs, the Fart Monster looks exactly how you would image a fart, especially one that looks set to explode!

The next instalment of Fart Monster and Me is The New School.
