Review: The Princess And The Fangirl

Camera bulbs flashing, the murmur of voices, the feeling of thousands of eyes all looking at one thing – You!

Ultimate fangirl, Imogen Lovelace never thought she would find herself in this situation, sitting next to one of the hottest stars from the latest Starfield movie, Darien Freeman. Let alone impersonating the lead actress who seems intent on killing off her larger than life character, Princess Amara.

After an accidental meeting at ExcelsiCon with her favourite actress Jessica Stone who immortalises Princess Amara, Imogen is beside herself with excitement.

That is until Imogen realises that Jessica is far removed from her onscreen persona.

The girls become instant enemies, especially after Imogen is mistaken for Jessica. After all Jessica is a serious actress who simply wants to move on in her career and leave Princess Amara far behind.

However, things do not go to plan as details of the next Starfield movie are leaked and everyone on social media blames Jessica Stone. It’s no secret that Jessica wants out and considering Princess Amara died in the last movie in dramatic circumstances. Princess Amara rammed her starship into the Black Nebula to save her one true love – that should have been the end of the character.

Fans launch the #SaveAmara campaign and the studio endeavour to discover the truth about the leaked script. Imogen is determined to save her favourite character and Jessica is equally determined to have a career. But the two enemies find they must team up together to find the person responsible all both will lose everything they love.

Impersonating each other should be easy, what could go wrong – they really do look very similar. Imogen’s world is transformed into wigs, contact lenses, high heels and speaking in a Noxian lilt that is Princess Amara’s signature accent. While newly minted geek girl Jessica must hide from her fans and all that know her and convince Minerva, Jasper and Harper she really is Imogen.

This book is filled with hilarious near misses, nerve wracking situations and every fangirl’s biggest dream – becoming a star.
