Review: We’re going on a Treasure Hunt

We’re going on a Treasure Hunt is an exciting, lift the flaps book which follows a group of bunnies on their treasure hunting adventure.

Join four bunnies on a melodic journey to find 10 golden coins. Beginning on a beach on a beautiful sunny day, they sail the sea, travel over stepping stones, traipse through an island jungle, walk across swaying bridges and find something which sends them running swiftly back again.

The bunnies encounter dolphins, snippy snappy crabs, coconut throwing monkeys and more. The text features repeated rollicking rhymes, which will have readers chanting “YO! HO! HO!” and “ARRRRR! OFF WE GO!” in no time. And, of course, the best treasure prevails at the end of the story.

I love Laura Hughes delightful illustrations; filled with motion, colour and character, they work in unity with the story, and set each scene beautifully. From cute cotton bunny tails to telescopes, pirate hats and patches, the details are superb.

This is a fabulously fun adventure story that will have young ones reading ahead and grasping at each flap looking for golden coins. It’s perfect for creative minds and could easily lead onto role play and treasure hunting games.

Martha Mumford is the author of other joy filled books for a young audience including her debut title Shhh! Don't Wake the Royal Baby! Laura Hughes is one of my favourites, she’s illustrated many fun titles including Mummy’s Suitcase, Daddy’s Sandwich and The Birthday Invitation
