Announcement: New Team Member: Meet Sue Warren!

It's always a little exciting sharing good news, especially when there might have seemed little to crow and coo about this year.

So it's with all the joy and jubilation of a sky-full of New Year fireworks that we welcome a new reviewer into our esteemed KBR ranks.

Please welcome Sue Warren! Teacher-librarian, creative genius, kids book devotee, blogger and all-round zanster (All right, we made up that word but think it sums up Sue pretty well).

You can sum up more for yourself from her 12 Curly Questions below. Enjoy! Look out for Sue's reviews in the new year.

1. Tell us something hardly anyone knows about you.
My secret ‘other’ career path ambition was to be an archaeologist.

2. What is your nickname?
Los (short for Losang which is my Buddhist name).

3. What is your greatest fear?

That my beautiful girl I’ve been raising since her mum, my youngest daughter died, will not be safe later in life.

4. Describe your writing style in ten words.
I write from the heart and from my own experience.

5. Tell us five positive words that describe you as a writer.

Exuberant, personal, conversational, amusing and knowledgeable.

6. What book character would you be, and why?
Hermione of course – ‘when in doubt go to the library’.

7. If you could time travel, what year would you go to and why?
1922 and alongside Howard Carter opening Tutankhamun’s tomb.

8. What would your ten-year-old self say to you now?
I knew you’d end up being a teacher and a librarian.

9. Who is your greatest influence?
Professionally Gwyneth Jones, personally my beautiful girl.

10. What/who made you start writing?
As a precocious reader, it was a natural follow on to write – one day I may even write with a view to being a professional.

11. What is your favourite word and why?
Splendiferous – one that I first read in (I think) What Katy Did by Susan Coolidge, aged around nine-years-old and have always loved it.

12. If you could only read one book for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Of Mice and Men – John Steinbeck - a perfect and poignant novella – thanks Dad for introducing me to Steinbeck.

Sue was born and raised in Sydney but has lived in Queensland since 1985. She was educated at St George Girls’ High School but left school early. A mature age student she became a primary teacher and within a few years also a teacher-librarian and is passionate about children’s literature.
