Review: Aussie Kids: Meet Dooley on the Farm

Dooley’s cousin is coming to visit him on his farm in Tasmania, but Sienna is a city kid, and life in the city is different from life on the farm.

Dooley has lots of plans, including spending a night in the barn, but his plans go out the window when Sienna isn’t keen on the strange smells and sounds of the farm.

Can Dooley save the great holiday he had planned?

Meet Dooley on the Farm by Sally Odgers and Christina Booth is another fabulous Aussie Kids junior fiction novel.

There are eight books in this series, including Meet Matilda at the Festival and six more books, one each for every state and territory in Australia.

These are brilliant books for junior readers starting out, with big text and easy-flow stories.

But the thing I like most about these books is the strong ties they have to Australia and the state or territory they are set in. They really highlight kid life around the country, allowing kids to learn about places they may never have been.

I also love that each book is written and illustrated by a different Australian author and different Australian illustrator. And a super cool fact… the author and illustrator for each book is from the state or territory the book is set in.

A fabulous teal is the feature colour in this book and it’s splashed across the cover, as well as featured in every beautiful illustration throughout.

I adore this series, and so does my junior reader. She’s looking forward to collecting all the books and learning about more interesting places across Australia. And so am I!
