Review: Shower Land: Break the Curse

You wake up on Monday morning and need to take a shower. Pretty normal right? You’re a bit stinky. This is what you do in the morning. No big deal.

Except, on this particular Monday morning something strange happens. Something unexpected. Something completely bonkers.

When Felix jumps in the shower on Monday morning, he gets transported through space and time to a strange world. And if landing in the middle of two charging armies isn’t bad enough, try being completely naked when it happens!

Seeking shelter (and some clothes), Felix meets brother and sister Noah and Elsie. Elsie’s bold, talkative and quite the musician. Noah is the brooding, silent type (who can’t speak due to a curse).

Not exactly the Monday Felix was expecting to have!

To try and figure out what’s going on, Felix heads to the local fair with Elsie and Noah. There’s a fortune teller there who may be able to help. Curses, dragons, angry mobs with pitchforks! How will Felix ever get home?

Shower Land: Break the Curse is book one in a fantastic new junior fiction series from much-loved author Nat Amoore and equally loved illustrator James Hart. It’s fun, silly and action-packed, providing a wild ride of fun and calamity from start to finish.

Kids who like a not-so-serious read are going to adore this new series. It’s like a TV show morphed into paper. Big text and Hart’s brilliant pics make it easy to navigate, and it’s one I think reluctant readers will gravitate towards.

With more books on their way (or already here), this should be on the to-be-read pile for all JF fans.
