Review: The Cheeky Toddler Alphabet

A stunning cover and end pages set the scene for this delightful picture book. Full of alliteration and clever rhyming verse, plus superb illustrations, The Cheeky Toddler Alphabet is not to be missed.

A divine publication, it reflects the good and otherwise of toddler years.

Mothers will nod their heads in recognition as they associate the familiar issues displayed on the pages with their own experiences.

Each letter of the alphabet is represented in perfect, descriptive, carefully considered and selected wording.

A glorious double spread shows a landscape view of a room where books are read. A cat is spread out in front of the fire, and stars twinkle through the uncovered windows.

This is only one of the many double spreads that show what they tell.

It is the toddler that claims the stage, in a head-to-head with mum.  Their activity and emotions are beautifully depicted throughout.

The aura of unconditional love between mother and child leaves a feeling of warmth and inclusion with the reader.

The sounds produced when the words are read aloud are short and long, soft and loud; the world full of wonder and wildness you bring.

Beautifully designed, both creators have contributed to an outstanding publication which features the difficulties and joys that are experienced during the toddler years.

This revealing book will be enjoyed by adults as well as children as it can be the basis for understanding and learning.

Thoroughly enjoyable, and cheeky, with exquisite design, a hats-off to award-winning author Davina Bell and talented designer and illustrator, Jennifer Falkner! I loved it!
