Introducing the first Dr Seuss graphic novel!
Each title in this series has an individual author and illustrator.
The Cat in the Hat just wants to have fun.
Fish initially convinces Sally and her unnamed brother not to open the door for Cat.
His previous
shenanigans caused chaos and an inevitable reprisal for their combined
actions.
So, the siblings pretend they are not home,
but the shrewd Cat talks through the door until his persuasive suggestions change
the course of their good intentions.
And they let him in.
Let’s get this party started is a powerful expression.
There is no stopping the Cat. He quickly sets in motion a series of destructive actions that only he can control.
Before Sally and her brother know it, the house is flooded,
and Fish is floating with the children through the pool-like rooms. All
attempts to stem the increasing volume of water fail.
Cat is having a great time!
When Thing 1 and Thing 2 are added to the group, something must be done to reverse the chaos before the parents return.
Can the Cat correct this out-of-control situation?
This will be the absolute last time he will succeed in convincing the children and Fish this is all just play. Or not?
The creator of Cat Out of Water, Art
Baltazar, is a New York Times bestselling author. He began in his funky secret
art studio in 1994, self-publishing the comic book, The Cray-baby Adventures.
He has an extensive and impressive portfolio, with a creative team behind him.
Use of striking colours and minute detail, blend
with his outrageous activity portrayed through the book.
Children will love these new graphic novels which will reel in many reluctant readers.
The second Dr Seuss graphic novel in the series, The Grinch Takes a Vacation, is highly entertaining and exposes the two sides of the complex Grinch.
With never a smile on his face, the Grinch can’t understand why everybody is excited about holiday time.
All the Whos have planned vacations, and are walking around with a smile on their face. There are so many destinations to choose from, so they decide to go from one adventure to another; to a mountain, the beach and a theme park.
Grinch is curious to find out why the Whos would
want to leave the place they live in.
He is bothered by everything; noise, people, signs, the lack of people in stores throughout the town. In fact, there is nothing that doesn’t annoy him.
Regardless, he decides that he too, will go on holiday with Max the dog, if only to see what all the fuss is about.
Max is determined to enjoy these new experiences,
and Grinch is determined as usual, not to.
The pair set out to places they have never been and take part in activities they knew nothing about.
While Grinch is trying out all the exciting things he didn't know existed, his secret heart is having a ball. But of course, it is beneath him to admit this.
From one experience to another, he learns new things, tastes different food and watches people having a good time, while he pretends that everything is boring for him.
Can copying people having fun change the grouchy Grinch?
This novel was written/illustrated by Kaeti Vandorn,
